Some styles may be borrowed from the boys, but this is one the ladies can call their own. Before Lee Riders were made for women, early advertisements depicted women wearing Lee men's cowboy pants. Be it the contesting cowgirl, the farmer's daughter, or the dudette rancher, it was plain to see that she needed a pair of pants that could ride out the rigors of a hard day’s work. At long last, we introduced Lady Lee Riders to the market in February 1947. Those original jeans were nearly identical to men's Lee Riders with a few exceptions: a small dart in the yoke to create a fitted waist for the female physique, with a fuller seat and hips. Women could finally step out in true Western style without compromising comfort.

Chances are, you could spend a lifetime searching for an original 1947 pair of button-fly Lady Lee Riders and never find them. Until now. Style #331, the original boyfriend jean, is back from our archives with all the iconic features you would expect from a pivotal piece of Lee history. Using lightweight selvage denim from our long-time friends at Cone Denim Mills, we pulled out all the stops to painstakingly replicate the first-edition Lee Riders made for women. Re-imagined for today, this tried-and-true reissue features a button-front fly, a brass shank button, bar tacks on the back pockets, Lee-stamped copper rivets, and Lazy S compound curve stitching. Just as tough. Just as cool. Just as timeless.
